Rejection is God’s Protection

The perspective that changed my life!

God continues to remind me that he is in control even when I can’t see how.

4 years ago I prayed to God that I would get into one of the top Russell Group Universities.

  • I had friends going there

  • It sounded the most fun

  • It was one of the top universities for my course

I thought I was destined to go there.

But although I prayed, I did not put in the work required to get the grades I needed…

So when I opened my results, I was devastated.

Up until that point in my life, I was used to just about scraping by with minimal effort, but still doing good enough to get the outcome I wanted.

I was proud, and God used this experience to humble me.

Looking back, it is one of the best days of my life.

I was forced to move to a city where I knew no one in my year, and that made me uncomfortable.

But as I always say:

Discomfort is the ONLY way to grow.

If I had got into my first choice university, I don’t think I would be the man that I am today (only God knows).

But ultimately, this experience also taught me the importance of working hard.

Imagine someone praying to build muscle but they don’t workout.

Or praying to make money but they don’t work.

Or praying for new friends but they lock themselves in their room and don’t see anyone - let alone speak to someone new.

That sounds silly right?

They won’t get the result that they desire because they’re not putting in the work required.

The truth is, a lot of us are doing this in our own lives.

We’re praying for a cake, God is giving us the ingredients, but we’re complaining because we have to make the cake ourselves.

Every experience you go through is to make you stronger.

There is a lesson in every setback.

And there is a reason behind every rejection.

  •  God ruins your plans before they ruin you.

  • God closes small doors to allow bigger ones to open

  • God has a plan greater than the plan you have for yourself

Focus on what you can control and leave the rest to God.

If you have an exam, prepare the best you can and trust God to give you the right result.

If you don’t get that dream job that you wanted, find the lesson from the experience and trust God to provide something better.

Life is all about perspective.

God has given us free will over our perspective so why would we not shape it to serve us?

Your mind is your best friend, not your worst enemy.

Everything will work out in the end if you believe it will.

You will look back and be grateful that you went through what you are currently going through.

You just need to trust God.

My grandma told me something when I was younger, and it has forever stuck with me:

“With hard work and God, ANYTHING is possible”

So I urge each of you to work hard and trust God this week.

Focus on your output and not the outcome.

God is in control.

Have a great week!
